Home Social Action Committees

Your help is essential in making Sinai an active and vibrant community. Whether you volunteer for a single project, or offer to serve on an ongoing committee, we value the participation and engagement of every congregant.

The following are standing committees Congregation Sinai:

Celebrations

Plan programs for religious holiday celebration

Fundraising

Plan and implement fundraising projects

Chesed (Caring)

The Chesed committee ensures that the congregation acts as an “extended family” for each and every member. Just as assistance is offered to congregants at times of loss, serious illness or family disruption, we also celebrate with each other at times of special joy.

Communications

Develop a publicity and public relations plan for the congregation, and assist in spreading the word about great programs and activities.

Israel

The Israel Committee continuously explores ways to form connections, build relationships, and raise awareness of our connectedness with Israel.

Membership

Recruit, welcome and integrate new members into the congregation’s activities. Engage current members to participate fully in synagogue life.

Music

Oversee musical elements of congregation life, and increase understanding of the origins and meaning of musical selections.

Outreach

Help us insure that we meet the needs of those at the periphery of our congregation. This committee has a special focus on interfaith families.

Youth and Education

Determine policy and philosophy of our Religious and Hebrew school activities, programming, and curriculum evaluation.

Ritual

Oversee ritual elements of congregational life. Promote greater involvement and understanding of ritual in the home and the synagogue.

Social Action

Plan and conduct programs and projects of social concern.

Young Families Committee

Help plan and implement programs for families with young children, and participate in family Holy Day celebrations.

Brotherhood and Women of Sinai (WOS)

The Brotherhood and Women of Sinai are coordinating arms of the congregation, providing outlets for more diverse programming, study, religious enrichment, fundraising, and fellowship.
